MoleMap Trial in Public Hospitals Aims To Reduce Patient Waiting Lists

Potential skin cancer patients being referred by GPs to see a dermatologist are currently being enrolled in a New Zealand based clinical trial to determine the clinical and financial impacts of replacing a face to face consultation with a MoleMap teledermatology consultation.

Favourable results from the trial could ultimately see the establishment of a permanent lesion diagnostic clinic within public hospitals, both in NZ and Australia. The key benefits would include shorter waiting lists for patients (from 48 to 4 days in a recent US trial), cost savings for health authorities and the freeing up of dermatologist’s time to see other skin conditions.

The establishment of such a clinic utilising telemedicine technology would be a world first.

If you are worried about a mole, and want a dermatologists opinion quickly, and without the wait, call 1800 MOLEMAP (1800 665 362) or book online
