Publicis's wellness group recognised a critical need to address skin cancer prevention for their workforce.
Publicis has run workplace skinchecks with MoleMap for three years. The program started as part of their physical wellbeing strategy, led by Grace Lum, People and Culture Business Partner.
"I've been quite religious about getting my own skin checked over the last decade," says Grace."With Australia's skin cancer stats, I thought it's something we can make easy for our employees. The feedback has always been that people know they need to get checked, but it's low on their priority list. Having it on-site makes it really easy."
The program fits perfectly with Publicis's Working with Cancer pledge. This stemmed from their global CEO's own cancer journey. The pledge guarantees job security and full salary for any employee going through cancer treatment, so they can focus on recovery without work stress.

In year one, Publicis ran a trial. Booking slots filled in 10-15 minutes. Employees thought the system was broken because spots disappeared so fast.
"They literally go," says Grace. "I was getting emails from people saying 'there's something wrong with the site, I can't get in.' And I'm going, 'No, they're actually all gone.'"
The programme has grown each year:
● Year 1: 5 days on-site (trial)
● Year 2: 10 days on-site
● Year 3: 20 days on-site
Publicis now offers:
● On-site checks at larger offices (minimum 20 employees)
● Clinic vouchers for smaller locations in Adelaide, Australia and New Zealand
● Priority booking for waitlisted employees from the previous year
The waitlist employees get 24-48 hours advance notice before general bookings open.
What worked:
The booking platform has evolved significantly. First-year challenges around cancellations and last-minute replacements were solved. Now it runs smoothly.
"MoleMap has made it easy over the last couple of years," says Grace. "The systems have evolved, and now it's pretty much smooth sailing."
Employee feedback has been entirely positive. The value proposition is clear: professional skin checks without the personal cost or the hassle of booking separate appointments.
Key stats across three years of programs:
● 654 employee skin checks (majority in age range of 24-38 years old)
● 28 cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions detected
● 1 in 4 employees checked required treatment or had a lesion requiring ongoing monitoring
Other key outcomes:
● Booking slots fill within 10-15 minutes
● 100% positive employee feedback
● Waitlist maintained year-to-year for unmet demand
"Unfortunately, we've found a couple each year with melanomas," says Grace. "But they've at least had them looked at and picked up early. That's why it has been a success for us. You can't really put a price on someone's health."
The popularity and success of the program have opened doors to other workplace health screenings. Publicis is now exploring cardiovascular checks, glucose testing, and other preventive health programmes.
"The model works," saysGrace. "It makes it easy for employees to get checked. So we're exploring what else we can potentially get on-site."
"The partnership with MoleMap is one we hope to continue," says Grace."I'm already exploring dates for next year. They've only ever listened and helped improve things. It's been a great journey."
