Our partner clinics undergo MoleMap accredited training. Using our proven skin surveillance system, they deliver the same high-quality report and dermatologist diagnosis.

Every 30 minutes, one Aussie is diagnosed with melanoma

At Richmond skin cancer clinic, you’ll get a thorough head-to-toe skin examination. Suspicious moles and lesions are imaged and sent for dermatologist review. That’s two sets of expert eyes checking ‘at risk’ moles for a trusted diagnosis.

The number of melanomas diagnosed every year is increasing. Most melanomas are caused by overexposure to UV radiation from the sun. Yet, if detected and treated early, the five-year survival rate is 94%. This is what makes a regular skin check so important.

“At my annual full body skin exam, the melanographer found a small pin-sized spot on my ear and recommended I have it examined further. It turned out to be cancerous. If it wasn’t for MoleMap, it would have gone unnoticed.”

Your questions, answered

How much do services at Richmond skin cancer clinic cost?

We provide several different skin services at Richmond skin cancer clinic. Our skin check is recommended for people at low risk or who have spotted a new or changing mole. You have the option to include full body imaging — for added peace of mind.

Full Body MoleMap is our most comprehensive mole check assessment. We recommended this service for anyone with a medium to high risk of getting skin cancer. It includes a thorough skin assessment with full body imaging, proactive monitoring of 'potentially at risk' moles, and free spot checks for 12 months.

How do I know my skin cancer risk?

There are several different factors that may put you at higher risk of skin cancer. The most common attributes are:

  • A light skin colour
  • A high number of moles
  • Skin that burns or reddens easily
  • A previous/family history of skin cancer

If you’re unsure about your individual skin cancer risk, take our quick quiz. This simple questionnaire takes less than a minute or so to complete and gives you an idea of your personal risk factors.

Do I need a referral from my GP to get a skin cancer check Richmond?

No. You don’t need a GP referral to attend any of our MoleMap Richmond skin check clinics. This means that if you spot a suspicious mole, you can simply book a skin check online. Alternatively, call us on 1800 665 362.

Do I need to remove my makeup before my skin check appointment?

Yes, we do recommend removing all make-up, moisturiser, tanning products, sunscreen, and nail polish before arriving at your skin cancer clinic Richmond . This helps to ensure the accuracy of the skin examination. Also, we suggest wearing clothing that’s easy to remove.

What happens if skin cancer is detected?

Following your skin check appointment, you’ll receive a full dermatologist report. You should get this within 10 days of your appointment. This report will provide advice on the next steps — if needed. MoleMap does offer skin cancer treatment at some of its clinics. Skin cancer treatment can include topical therapy, surgical (removal), and cryotherapy.

Professional vs DIY skin check: do I need to do both?

The short answer is yes. An annual skin cancer check by a skin cancer detection expert will give you the peace of mind that your skin has been thoroughly checked. Our melanographers have the tools (such as a dermatoscope) and experience to spot signs of cancer that the naked eye might miss.

We also recommend doing an at-home skin check every three months. This is to help spot changes in your skin early. It’s important to know the signs of skin cancer to look for, as well as how to do a DIY skin check. You might also like to clue up on the symptoms of skin cancer not to be missed.
